Ban orders on marine fishing issued
By Our Staff Reporter
HYDERABAD,
APRIL 13.
The State Government has issued orders on marine fishing declaring a closed season and prohibiting fishing activities on sea (in territorial limits of Andhra Pradesh) from April 15 to May 31 by different fishing vessels. The vessels include mechanised vessels and those fitted with outboard as well as inboard engines.
According to a press release issued by P. Krishnaiah, Commissioner of Fisheries, the main object of the ban orders is to observe the conservancy measures during breeding season of prawn and fish as per the powers vested with the Government under sub-section 2 of section 4 of the AP Marine Fishing Regulation Act, 1995. Traditional and non-motorised fishing craft have been exempted from the prohibitory orders.
