Fall in humidity

Gannavaram airport recorded maximum temperature of 38.5 degrees Celsius and minimum of 24.7 degrees Celsius on Tuesday. Humidity dropped from 78 per cent in the morning to 44 per cent in the evening.

Commodity prices

The following were the prices (in rupees per kg) of essential commodities in the local wholesale market on Tuesday: groundnut oil-53, palmolein oil-46.25, sunflower oil-52.50, tamarind (flower variety)-26 to 33, tamarind (karipuli variety)-33 to 42, chillies-18 to 23, rice (2716)-11 to 11.50, rice (super fine)-13 to 13.50, rice (samba masoori)-13.50 to 14, black gram-21 and red gram-24.50.

Plea to revive eSeva centre

The Krishna District Lorry Owners' Association president, Y.V. Eswar Rao, has appealed to Transport Department officials to take steps to revive the eSeva centre for payment of motor vehicle tax by vehicle owners and dealers. The centre had stopped functioning due to technical problems.

Summer camp

The Vijayawada Book Festival Society is planning to organise summer coaching classes in French, German and communication skills from April 20 to May 20.

Power counters open today

Revenue collection counters will remain open on Wednesday though it being a public holiday for payment of current consumption bills (CC bills) pertaining to the town division, comprising Vijayawada city (urban), Kankipadu, Penamaluru, Gannavaram and Vijayawada rural mandals.

The counters will function from 8 a.m. to 12 noon.

Radha's charge against TDP

The Congress candidate for the Vijayawada East Assembly constituency, Vangaveeti Radhakrishna, on Tuesday, said the TDP had done precious little for welfare of Muslim minorities. Addressing gatherings as part of his election campaigning in the 40th division, Mr. Radhakrishna appealed to people to make a judicious choice.

Rin's offer

Hindustan Lever Limited's most popular brand of detergent, Rin, has announced unique promotion offers under which a consumer can win a car or a washing machine. The marketing chief, Manish Agarwal, has said consumers would have to fill lucky draw coupons, available with the retailer, on purchase of five sachets of Rin.
