GUNTUR, APRIL 13. People's War naxalites blasted the house of a Congress leader, Melam Krishnamurthy, of Venkataipalem of in Bellamkonda mandal of Guntur district on Tuesday evening. The naxalites alleged that Mr. Krishnamurthy was involved in the diversion of rice meant for `Food-for-work' scheme and that his son, Srikant, was actively canvassing for the Telugu Desam Party, which they did not approve of. The naxals placed a crude bomb in the house at about 5 p.m. and blew it up.
