HYDERABAD, APRIL 13. The Sikh community celebrated Baisakhi festival with traditional fervour, gaiety and devotion here on Tuesday. Mass prayers to Guru Granth Saheb, rendition of Gurubani keertans and a colourful holy procession followed by `Guru ka langar' marked the festivities. The highlight of the festivities was the massive procession, which made its way through the major thoroughfares of the city. About 15,000 Sikh devotees took part in it. `Guru Granth Saheb ji' was carried on a beautifully decorated vehicle along with the five `Nishaan Saheban' in the procession. The `Panj Pyaras' (five beloved ones) and Sikh youth displayed their legendary martial art skills with swords besides several other performances. The `Baisakhi keertan darbar' would be held on Wednesday between 9 p.m. and 1 a.m. in which reputed Ragi Jathas will render Gurubani keertans. Meanwhile, traffic went haywire during the procession on some of the main thoroughfares like Begumpet, Ameerpet, Punjagutta for almost two hours in the evening.
