This Day That Age
Prime Minister Nehru has said that the progress and advancement of India would largely rest upon her internal strength. "If we are internally weak, we will fall as a nation. Mere possession of wealth will not help solve our economic, political and other problems. It is only courage and united action which will enable us to overcome our difficulties and march towards our cherished goal." Mr. Nehru, who was opening the new building of the Gangaram Hospital in New Delhi on April 13, said that the world was today passing through a critical period in her history. This was an age of pressure tactics, threats and intimidation. Big powers had invented weapons of mass extermination like the hydrogen bomb and, by virtue of that, were holding out threats to the weaker powers. The result was that gradually the weaker nations were being dragged into their sphere of influence and becoming a pawn in the hands of these gigantic powers.
