Jamshedpur selected for UN project

CHENNAI: Jamshedpur will be one among the six cities chosen to participate in the UN Global Compact Cities Pilot Programme, says a release. The other five cities are: Melbourne (Australia), Porto Alegre (Brazil), Tianjin (PRC), Nairobi (Kenya) and San Francisco (U.S.). Jamshedpur would represent South Asia. The reason behind Jamshedpur being nominated into this international pilot project is the exceptional record of Tata Steel in community development and its close involvement in developing and providing services to the city, adds the release.
