MYSORE, APRIL 14. A Kabini Raitha Jagrathi Yatre will be launched on Friday to create awareness among the electorate in the Kabini command area to vote for candidates committed to the cause of farmers. Organised by the Kabini Raitha Hitarakshana Samiti, the yatre will commence at Beechanahalli where a farmer, Guruswamy, allegedly committed suicide during the Cauvery agitation in 2002. The samiti president, Kurubur Shantakumar, told presspersons here today that the yatre would cover the H.D. Kote, Nanjangud, T. Narsipura, Bannur, Kollegal, and Chamarajanagar Assembly constituencies, which comprised the Kabini command area. The yatre would conclude on April 21. The voters would also be urged to assess the contribution of the members of the dissolved Assembly for the welfare of farmers, he added.
