Thiruvananthapuram girls in last four

KURIANOOR, APRIL 14. Host Kottayam and Thiruvananthapuram girls entered the semifinals of the 31st State sub-junior basketball championships at the MTHS floodlit courts here on Wednesday.

Both Kottayam and Thiruvananthapuram topped their respective groups to move into the last four.

In the boys' section, the quarterfinalists were spotted with Ernakulam, Kasargode, Alappuzha, Kannur, Kottayam, Thrissur, Malappuram and Thiruvananthapuram moving into the last eight stage.

The results:

Boys: Pool `A': Ernakulam 44 (Arun Paul 30) bt Kasargode 18; Pool `B': Alappuzha 37 (Nikhil 17) bt Thiruvananthapuram 30 (Sangeeth Sivan 14); Alappuzha 41 (Muneer 16, Robin 10) bt Pathanamthitta 25; Pool `C': Kannur 26 (Aby Sam 18) bt Palakkad 3; Kannur 26 bt Kozhikode 8; Pool `D': Malappuram 16 bt Palakkad 4; Thrissur 34 (Shebu Shamsudeen 16) bt Malappuram 30.

Girls: Pool `A': Ernakulam 47 (Aevlyn Maria 10) bt Kollam 10; Thiruvananthapuram 30 bt Ernakulam 6; Pool `B': Thrissur 20 bt Pathanamthitta 13; Pool `C': Kozhikode 21 bt Wayanad 6. Kannur 28 bt Wayanad 2.
