KARIMNAGAR, APRIL 14. Election expenditure observer for the Peddapalli Parliament constituency and seven Assembly segments, Babu Joseph, has directed the designated officers to educate candidates that failure of production of registers of day-to-day expenditure shall be considered as a major default under various sections of IPC. At a meeting with the designated officers on election expenditure here on Wednesday, the poll observer said that candidates, who failed to comply with the requirements of law regarding lodging of account of election expenses were liable to be disqualified by the Election Commission under section 10-A of the Representatives of People's Act, 1951. He said that all candidates should keep a separate and correct account of all expenditure between from date on which he has been nominated and the date of declaration of result of the election, both days inclusive. The expenses should be supported by requisite vouchers, bills acknowledgements etc., he said and instructed officials to verify whether the expenditure shown by candidates against each item was correct in terms of quantity and value taking account of extent of expenditure and current market value.
