EC orders transfer of U.P. officials

NEW DELHI, APRIL 15. Taking a serious view of poll related complaints, the Election Commission has ordered the immediate transfer of some senior civil and police officials in Uttar Pradesh to ensure free and fair polls.

The Inspector-General of Police, Kanpur, V. K. Verma; DIG, Agra, B. L. Yadav and ADM, city, Kanpur, O. N. Singh, were transferred, following certain complaints, Commission sources said.The Principal Secretary of PWD, Chandrapal Singh, has been asked not to take any charge till the completion of the polls as his wife is contesting the Lok Sabha polls. from Hatras constituency.
