Great team work: Wright

RAWALPINDI, APRIL 15. Indian coach John Wright dwelt on the importance of Rahul Dravid's 270 on the third day of the final Test here on Thursday.

"He was the foundation, putting on three century partnerships, and nearly a fourth,'' said Wright. "We had a slight advantage last evening and wanted to consolidate that today by working hard and concentrating on sessions and putting up partnerships,'' he said.

Asked about the nature of the pitch, he said, "We just have to go out there and do the job. It's still a good batting wicket, but their leg-spinner (Danish Kaneria) was getting some help. We wouldn't complain if the trend continues.''

Dravid's fitness played an important part in his epic innings in hot, energy-sapping conditions, and Wright acknowledged the role of physio Andrew Leipus and fitness trainer Gregory Allen King in getting the players into a better physical state.

"Rahul is certainly one of the guys who has really worked hard on fitness. There's a lot of team effort behind it. We try and support each player and give them the best opportunity to go out there and do their best,'' he said.

On the efforts of the young pace bowling combination of L. Balaji and Irfan Pathan, he said, "Pathan and Balaji's progress has been heartening. It's very important for the team. They have helped themselves and the team.'' — Our Special Correspondent
