8 cm rain in Valparai

CHENNAI, APRIL 17. Isolated rainfall occurred over interior Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Mainly dry weather prevailed over south interior Karnataka and dry weather prevailed over coastal Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Lakshadweep, coastal and north interior Karnataka. Valparai recorded a heavy rainfall of 8 cm. The other chief amounts of rainfall recorded in centimetres are: Dharmapuri 3 and Erode, Nilakottai (Dindigul dt.) and Kanjirapally (Kottayam dt.) 1 each.

On Friday, heat wave conditions prevailed over parts of south coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana and hot day conditions prevailed over parts of north Tamil Nadu.

Nizamabad and Rentachintala recorded the highest maximum temperature of 44 degree Celsius in the region.

FORECAST (Valid until Monday morning): Isolated rain or thundershowers are likely to occur over Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, Kerala, south interior Karnataka, Rayalaseema and coastal Andhra Pradesh. Mainly dry weather will prevail over Telangana, Lakshadweep, coastal and north interior Karnataka.

Warning: Heat wave conditions likely to prevail over parts of interior Tamil Nadu, south coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Rayalaseema during the next two days.

Farmers weather bulletin for Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry (Forecast valid until Monday morning): Isolated light to moderate rain is likely to occur over Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry.
