WARANGAL, APRIL 17. With reports about possibility of debacle of the TDP in the district, candidates, including senior leaders, grew restive as E. Dayakar Rao and Kadiam Srihari are said to have refused to accompany the TDP president, N. Chandrababu Naidu, during his tour in the district on Saturday. According to sources, both of them told Mr. Naidu that they were running short of time and hence they would concentrate on campaigning in their respective constituencies in the wake of strong Telangana sentiment prevailing in the district. Mr. Dayakar Rao moved with a handful of persons in his constituency while Mr. Srihari and his wife toured various mandals. Mr. Naidu was accompanied by the Hanamkonda Lok Sabha candidate, Ch. Suresh Reddy, at Maripeda, Palakurthi, Jangoan and Cheriyal meetings while the Assembly candidates of Chennur and Jangaon -- N. Sudhakar Rao and A. Baswa Reddy respectively -- restricted themselves to their constituencies during Mr. Naidu's visit. According to intelligence reports, the TDP is likely to retain Wardhannapet, Station Ghanpur and Chennur. But, the situation has changed completely and even the sure-fire Mr. Dayakar Rao is under pressure with his opponent, M. Yadagiri Reddy, an Independent supported by the TRS, giving a tough fight to him.
