Congress, TDP workers indulge in wordy duel

NIZAMABAD, APRIL 17. The `Face to face' programme organised by the Nizamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry at the Rajiv Gandhi auditorium here on Saturday night witnessed unruly scenes as the Congress and the Telugu Desam Party cadres entered into heated arguments in the presence of the Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee chief, D. Srinivas.

The chamber representatives invited the TDP candidate from Nizamabad segment, Satish Pawar, to speak on the occasion. The former MLA was addressing the gathering when a TRS leader, Koneru Sai Kumar, disrupted the meeting alleging that the TDP candidate was being more time. The moderator of the programme clarified that they were watching the time.

As the TRS leader raked up a controversy, tension ran high as the TDP and Congress workers got up and began shouting at each other. At one stage, the rival party cadres rushed towards each other gestured violently. The chamber representatives decided to suspend the programme.
