HYDERABAD, APRIL 17. In view of the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections on April 20 from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m, the city Police Commissioner, R.P. Singh, has issued the following prohibitory orders to maintain public order and tranquillity. Assembly of persons and any kind of processions; carrying of sticks either with or without flags, lathis, fire-arms or any other weapon within a radius of one kilometre from the polling stations; erection of temporary structures like shamianas, pandals on thoroughfares, public places; use of mikes or public address system by anybody or any political party in the twin cities; music, singing or speeches and broadcasting; delivering speech, gesture or mimetic representation, exhibition or dissemination of pictures, symbols, placards or anything which is likely to create religious animosity or hatred between different communities. Any person violating the order will be liable for prosecution. The police officers, military and para military personnel, home guards and election officers on duty are exempted from the operation of the orders. Mr. Singh further notified that the voters should strictly form only two separate queues (for men and women), according to the notification.
Closure of wine shops
All wine and toddy shops, bars attached to restaurants and military canteen situated in the twin cities shall remain closed from 5 p.m. on April 18 to 6 a.m. on April 21, according to the notification.
