CM vouches for social justice

By Our Staff Reporter

ADONI, APRIL 18. The Chief Minister, N. Chandrababu Naidu, has said that the TDP is going to the people in this election with the agenda of social justice by giving more seats to the weaker sections, women and disadvantaged sections. If the party is not supported, it will be a setback to the cause of weaker sections.

Mr. Naidu addressed an election meeting at Adoni in Kurnool district on Sunday night and appealed to the people to vote for the TDP to pave the way for a stable and honest Government.

He said the TDP was against concentration of power in the hands of a few influential sections, but wanted to share power with common public. Mr. Naidu accused the Congress of lacking clarity over separate Statehood for Telangana and the extremist problem.

The AICC president, Sonia Gandhi, did not utter a word on the Telangana issue. Also, the party promised to solve the extremist problem through dialogue. But it had never done so in the States administered by it now.

He said power to the Congress would result in anarchy and bloodshed. Development would take a backseat. Mr. Naidu said the Congress and TRS leaders were heaping abuses on him, day and in day out, but he suffered all this humiliation for the sake of people.

The road show by the Chief Minister, Mr. Naidu drew good public response. Mr. Naidu who landed at the Arts and Science College Grounds two hours behind schedule, travelled in an open truck to the venue at the municipal grounds, covering a distance of three km.

The Kurnool Parliamentary candidate, K.E. Krishnamurthy, the Assembly candidates, G. Krishnamma (Adoni) and S.V. Subba Reddy (Pathikonda), and the former MLA, Meenakshsi Naidu, travelled with the Chief Minister.

Prominence was given to Mr. Meenakshi Naidu, who is said to be hurt by denial of ticket. The TDP nominated Mrs. Krishnamma, belonging to the Boya community to balance the social equation. A large number of people lined up along the route to greet Mr. Naidu who also reciprocated by showing the `V' sign and with folded hands.

The meeting at the Municipal Grounds turned noisy when the anxious crowd pulled down the barricades and surged forward.

The police had a tough time controlling the crowd. Presspersons vacated the gallery to escape the unruly crowd. Mr. Naidu left for Aluru, the venue of the next meeting, by road.
