VISAKHAPATNAM, APRIL 18. The district administration has engaged a MI 8 helicopter to airlift 18 polling personnel from Narsipatnam to conduct poll in 13 booths located in inaccessible villages in Chintapalli Assembly segment in Visakhaptnam district today. Speaking to newspersons here today, the District Collector, Sunil Sharma, said that all arrangements have been made to conduct the poll peacefully in the wake of the call given by the People's War imposing curfew in agency areas on Monday and Tuesday. He said 374 booths were arranged in Chintapalli and Paderu segments which form part of Bhadrachalam parliamentary constituency. Two trains have been arranged from Kakinada and Rajahmundry to fetch 7,600 employees from East Godavari district for poll duties in Visakhapatnam district. Arrangements have been made for their night stay here and they will report to the reception centre tomorrow. Special buses have been arranged to take them to the respective distribution centres. He refuted the reports that most of the women employees were allotted to agency areas to meet naxal threat. He said one woman employee had to be allotted to each polling booth as per the directions of the Election Commission. He said that the counting will take place at the following centres on May 11 for Assembly constituencies and May 13 for parliamentary constituencies. Bhogapuram and Visakhapatnam One at L.B. College, Bheemunipatnam and Uttarapalli at Andhra University Engineering College, Visakhapatnam Two and S.Kota at Swarna Bharathi indoor stadium, Pendurthi at Andhra University gymnasium, Madugula, Parawada, Elamanchili and Narsipatnam at V.S.Krishna college, Payakaraopet at School of Correspondence, Andhra University, Chodavaram at university convocation hall, Anakapalle at indoor stadium, District Sports authority and for Paderu and Chintapalli segments at A.M.A.L college at Anakapalle.
