Rise in temperature

Gannavaram airport recorded a maximum temperature of 41.7 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 26.4 degrees Celsius, on Sunday. Humidity fell from 68 per cent in the morning to 57 per cent in the evening.

Corporate colleges flayed

The city committee of the Students Federation of India, on Sunday, found fault with the managements of corporate colleges for depriving their students of summer vacation. In a statement here, the federation leaders accused the corporate colleges of misleading the people. They alleged that regular classes for Intermediate final year students were being held on the pretext of EAMCET coaching classes. Stating that the act was in gross violation of the Intermediate Board norms, they demanded stringent action against the erring managements.

Free yoga classes

Gayatri Parivar, a voluntary body, plans to organise a 40-day free yoga course from April 20 at its local branch office in the city. Stating this in a statement on Sunday, the parivar's convenor, A.V.N.S. Kumar, said classes would be conducted daily from 5.30 a.m. to 6.30 a.m. under the supervision of the Shantikunj Haridwar representative, B. Gurumurthy Yadav. Tamil New Year celebrated

The Tamil Nadu Sangham in the city celebrated the Tamil New Year at the Railway Institute, on Sunday. The sangham members organised a get-together on the occasion, which was followed by a cultural programme comprising presentation of different dance forms including Bharat Natyam, Kuchipudi and other folk dances.
