Vijayawada
By Our Special Correspondent
VIJAYAWADA, APRIL 18. Intensifying his efforts to attract the sizeable number of Brahmin community votes in the Vijayawada-East Assembly constituency, the Congress candidate from the seat, Vangaveeti Radhakrishna, has promised to strive to create employment opportunities to unemployed Brahmin youth if he is elected in the forthcoming elections. Accompanied by the APCC secretary, Malladi Vishnu, Mr. Radhakrishna went on a door-to-door campaign in Satyanarayanapuram and other Brahmin dominated areas on Sunday seeking their cooperation for his victory. Interacting with residents, he admitted that despite being an upper caste community, a majority of people in the hailing from the brahmin community were poor. The absence of reservation facility for the brahmin community was another aspect which denied them jobs.Mr. Radhakrishna also criticised the Telugu Desam Government for neglecting the welfare of brahmins during its nine-year rule. He assured the residents that he would strive for creating self-employment opportunities to brahmin besides working for setting up a vedic school in the constituency if he is elected.
