Rain likely in Tamil Nadu

CHENNAI, APRIL 19. Isolated rainfall occurred over Tamil Nadu and dry weather prevailed over Kerala, Lakshadweep, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.

The chief amounts of rainfall recorded in cms are: Karur Paramathi 3, Bhavani Sagar (Erode dt.) 2 and Sholinghur (Vellore dt.), Krishnagiri, Uthangarai (Krishnagiri dt.), Senthamangalam (Namakkal dt.) and Kundha Bridge (Nilgiris dt.) 1 each.

They were markedly above normal at one or two places over Telangana, Rayalaseema, appreciably above normal at a few places over Tamil Nadu, south Kerala, at one or two places over Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, above normal at one or two places over rest coastal Karnataka, north interior Karnataka, Telangana and were generally normal over rest of the region.

A number of stations recorded the highest maximum temperature of 44 degree Celsius in the region.

FORECAST (Valid until Wednesday morning): Isolated rain or thundershowers are likely to occur over Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, Kerala, and Andhra Pradesh. Mainly dry weather will prevail over Lakshadweep and Karnataka.
