`I' group local body leaders' meet today

KOCHI, APRIL 19. The local body chiefs and office-bearers belonging to the `I' group in the Congress have decided to hold "parallel election conventions" in different assembly segments of the Ernakulam and Muvattupuzha constituencies.

A meeting of the top leaders at the local body level has been convened in the Ernakulam Parliamentary constituency on Tuesday, said C.N. Devassy, Vypeen block panchayat president.

The meeting would chalk out strategies to counter the UDF diktat that local body office-bearers who assumed office with " outside support" not be openly seen canvassing from UDF fora in the election.
