Chess
Children's rapid meet from today
KOZHIKODE,
APRIL 20.
The State children's rapid chess championship begins at the Chess India Complex here on Tuesday. Over 150 players are expected for the two day meet, in which competions — seperately for boys and girls — will be held in three age-groups: under-16, 14 and 12.
The Kerala team for the National meet, to be held here from May 26 to 28, will be picked from this tourney. G.S. Sreejith from Thiruvananthapuram and S. Roshini from Kannur, who were crowned the new State sub-junior champions in the classical version of the sport at Thalassery on Sunday, are among the prominent players for the championship.
