SRINAGAR, APRIL 19. The former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and National Conference leader, Farooq Abdullah, today escaped a grenade attack by militants on his motorcade at Sonargund in Budgam district. The grenade exploded in the air without causing any injuries. Police said Dr. Abdullah was on his way to Raithan village when he was attacked. After reaching Raithan he addressed a public meeting.
3 CPI(M) activists injured
Three CPI(M) activists were injured in a grenade attack by militants at Dayalgam in Anantnag district of south Kashmir. According to police, the activists were putting up posters of the party candidate, Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami.
