THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, APRIL 19. Seven candidates filed nomination papers today before the District Collector, K.R. Muralidharan, who is also the returning officer. The LDF candidates for the Thiruvananthapuram and Chirayinkeezhu Lok Sabha seats, P.K.Vasudevan Nair and Varkala Radhakrishnan, filed their papers. Mr. Nair filed two sets of papers and Mr. Radhakrishnan four sets. The following are the other candidates who filed papers in Thiruvananthapuram: C. Divakaran, CPI dummy - one set, Francis Albert, Independent - two sets, Rajagopal, Independent - two sets and V.T. Cherian - one set. Murali Kumar, an Independent candidate, also filed a set of papers in Chirayinkeezhu. Nominations will be accepted between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. up to April 23, an official release said.
Training for poll officials
Training for election officials in the district will begin on April 28. A meeting of Assistant Returning Officers and Electoral Registration Officers chaired by the District Collector reviewed the procedures. Training will be imparted in two batches. Each Assistant Returning Officer will have a Presiding Officer and a First Polling Officer along with him for the training.
