Press Club condemns attack on scribes
By Our Special Correspondent
BANGALORE,
APRIL 20.
The Press Club of Bangalore has condemned the attack on K.V. Subramanya, Staff Reporter and V. Srinivasa Murthy, photographer, of The Hindu by Janata Dal (S) activists on Tuesday. The Press Club President, A. Jayaram, said: "What is shocking is that some miscreants tried to throttle Mr. Subramanya. But for the timely intervention of some village elders, a tragedy would have occurred. It is astonishing that the Janata Dal (S) which is accusing the Congress of resorting to goondaism has itself indulged in violence and attacked journalists. The State Janata Dal (S) owes an explanation to the media and the people at large," he said.
