BANGALORE, APRIL 20. The Director-General and Inspector-General of Police, T. Madiyal, said here today that one incident of booth capturing had been reported from Chikkajajur in Chitradurga district. The police resorted to lathi-charge and burst teargas shells to disperse mobs. He said one round had been fired at Rahmatnagar, Kolar. Speaking to presspersons, Mr. Madiyal said there were minor disturbances when a large number of people did not find their names on the voters list at Nandagudi, Srinivasapura, Hoskote, Kolar, Gulbarga, Davangere, Raichur, and at several places in Bangalore city. He said there was a complaint from a polling station at Chamarajpet, where the Chief Minister, S.M. Krishna, is the candidate, on the electronic voting machines (EVMs). The BJP had complained that a large number of names were missing from the voters list at Chamarajpet. He said reports of EVMs not working properly were received at Shamanna Gardens, Binnypet, and other places. He said the police would look into complaints that security had not been provided to the former DGP, H.T. Sangliana.
