NEW DELHI, APRIL 20. One person has been arrested by the West Delhi police for allegedly killing his wife and sister-in-law at Nangloi in West Delhi on March 3. The accused, a member of Kishan Pehalwan gang, was apparently fed up with frequent quarrels between the two women over the use of money he had got by selling a piece of land, which he and his brother owned. Following a tip-off, the police had laid a trap near Mundka railway crossing where the accused, identified as Dharmender, a resident of Mundka village in Nangloi, was supposed to come to meet his parents on Monday evening. He was overpowered near his house. Dharmender allegedly confessed to having killed his wife and sister-in-law, both named Anju. Dharmender told the police that his brother, Aman, an alleged bad character of Nangloi police station, was in jail in connection with some case. The family needed money to procure his bail. Dharmender decided to sell a piece of the land, owned jointly by him and Aman. However, Aman's wife was not happy over the manner in which the money was being used. Dharmender's wife, however, used to insist that the money had been used in the right manner. Aman is still in jail. The police said Dharmender, was fed up with the frequent quarrels and decided to eliminate the two. On March 3, he procured a country-made revolver from one of his associates. When he returned home, his and Aman's children were playing outside the house, while his father, Kartar Singh, a farmer, was away on work. The only male present in the house was Kartar's nephew Vinay, who had come there to pay a visit. While Dharmender's wife was working in the kitchen, Aman's wife was in her bedroom. Dharmender went into the kitchen and shot at his wife from point blank range. Before anybody could realise what had happened, he went to the room where his sister-in-law was present. He shot her too from point blank range and fled in his white Maruti Zen car. Vinay rushed the two women to a nearby hospital where both were declared dead on arrival. Dharmender fled to Chandigarh and spent the night there in a hotel. From there, he left for Kolkata. A couple of days later, he came back to Sirsa in Haryana and then went to Sampla (Haryana). On March 10, he again shot at one Praveen, a resident of Narela in North-West Delhi at the behest of one Sukhchain Singh of Sampla, who had some score to settle with Praveen. Thereafter, he remained in hiding.
