Caught for making obscene calls

By Our Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI, APRIL 20. A 35-year-old businessman into manufacturing and export of garments, who had allegedly been making obscene calls to his former woman employee threatening to criminally assault her, was arrested by the Crime Branch today. He was subsequently released on bail.

The Crime Branch recently received a complaint from a woman alleging that his former employer, Manish Mittal, a resident of Vikaspuri who owned a garment manufacturing unit and also had outlets across the Capital, had been making obscene call to her and even threatened to criminally assault her.

The victim had joined Mittal's business house as a manager around four years ago. In due course, Mittal apparently developed a soft corner for her.

However, the victim happened to meet another person, Atul, through her woman colleague and came close to him. She left the job and married Atul after which she entered into garment trade and also struck some deal with Mittal's firm.

After she was married to another person, Mittal shifted his attention to the woman who had introduced the victim to Atul. But that woman too got married to a man introduced to her by the victim, which irked Mittal.

He allegedly started making obscene calls to her. According to the victim, he would often make dozens of such calls each day. Acting on the complaint, the Crime Branch went through the records of the mobile phones of the accused and the victim and came to know that he had been using three mobile sets to make those calls. When it was established that Mittal had been making the obscene calls, the police arrested him under Section 509 of the Indian Penal Code. Further investigations into the matter are on.
