BANGALORE, APRIL 20. The Janata Dal (Secular) candidates for the Bangalore South Lok Sabha and Binnypet Assembly constituencies, Jayanti and Abdul Azeem, respectively, today met the Chief Electoral Officer, Abhijit Dasgupta, and demanded a re-poll in the entire Lok Sabha constituency as the names of more than 25 per cent of the voters were not found in the voters' lists. Speaking to presspersons, they said the people were upset over the denial of their right to vote by the irresponsibility on the part of the Election Commission. They warned that if the re-poll was not ordered, there would be a serious law-and-order problem in the area. The party's candidate for the Jayanagar Assembly constituency, Zameer Pasha, alleged that the voters, particularly Muslims, were angry that a large number of them were deprived of their right to vote and turned away. Alleging the involvement of the Congress candidate in the Binnypet Assembly Constituency, V. Somanna, in the missing of names from the voters' list, Mr. Azeem demanded to know as to how the names of voters living in Padarayanapura, Venkataswamy Garden and Cholurpalya for decades could be missing.
