India agrees to Pakistani dates for talks on CBMs

By Our Diplomatic Correspondent

NEW DELHI, APRIL. 21. India today agreed to the dates for two pending Pakistani proposals for separate talks on nuclear confidence-building measures (CBMs) and drug trafficking and smuggling, but the two countries are still to decide the venue for the discussions.

Following a meeting of the Foreign Secretaries in February, Pakistan had proposed to India that expert-level talks on nuclear CBMs take place on May 25-26 and a meeting of the committee on drug trafficking and smuggling take place on June 15-16.

"We have today conveyed the acceptance of these dates," a Ministry of External Affairs spokesman said today.

However, the venue for the talks — whether New Delhi or Islamabad — is still to be decided. The acceptance of the dates for the talks was conveyed to Pakistani diplomats here today.
