THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, APRIL 21. The decision of the Kerala Film Chamber to impose a ban on members of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA) who participate in stage shows in West Asian countries is unjust, the association general secretary, Mohanlal, has said. Mr. Lal told reporters here today that if the contention was on the telecast of the stage shows, it could be reconsidered. A final decision had not yet been taken on the telecast of stage shows. A team comprising 24 artistes would present programmes in the Gulf countries from April 28 to May 14. If the response was encouraging, the tour might be extended. He said that recently, a show was held by another television channel in Delhi. Yet another show was conducted in Kottayam as part of an award night. When the Chamber did not take any decision against these shows, its decision against the coming shows could not be justified. He said no one could impose a blanket ban on the artistes touring the West Asian countries. He and other artistes had produced films and such options might also be considered if needed, Mr. Lal said.
