Ruling parties continue to violate model code: CPI

By Our Staff Reporter

VELLORE, APRIL 21. The State secretary of the Communist Party of India, R. Nallakannu, has alleged continuing violation of the model code of conduct by the ruling parties at the Centre and State.

Talking to newspersons here today, Mr.Nallakannu said while tubelights dotting stretches of roads and huge hoardings put up by the ruling party for meetings addressed by the Chief Minister and AIADMK general secretary, Jayalalitha, were allowed, the police were removing hoardings put up by Opposition parties.

He charged said the Election Commission has done nothing to stop Ms.Jayalalithaa from making personalised attacks on the Congress president, Sonia Gandhi.

Instead of obtaining relief from the Centre for farmers who ``committed suicide'' due to severe drought, the AIADMK Government was filing cases against those who exposed the ``suicides''.
