Kids were strangled

By Our Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI, APRIL 21. The two boys, whose bodies were found in a carton lying at New Delhi railway station on April 19, were strangulated to death the previous night, according to the post-mortem report. Their identity is yet to be established.

The police have preserved the teeth of the children for DNA sampling later.

Meanwhile, the police have prepared the portrait of the rickshaw puller, who is said to have brought the man and woman along with the carton to New Delhi railway station on Sunday evening around 9-15 p.m. The porter, Shiv Ram, who had brought the carton from the parking area to the passenger hall near the escalator on Paharganj side, helped the police to prepare the portrait.

The police are also taking the help of an artist to prepare a portrait of the woman who was accompanying the middle-aged woman.

According to the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Railways), Ajay Kumar, the rickshaw contractors have been contacted and questioned in order to trace the rickshaw puller. Further efforts are on to find if the middle-aged duo stayed in any of the hotels or guesthouses in Paharganj.

The police suspect that since the rickshaw puller had taken only Rs. 20, for two persons and a large carton, they must have hired it from a place near New Delhi railway station.

The carton had raised suspicion when the lift operator, Sanjay, found it lying unattended on Monday morning.
