NEW DELHI, APRIL 21. The former legislator, Sish Pal, thrown out of the party for contesting against the official party candidate from the Tughlakabad Assembly constituency a few months ago, was today taken back into the organisation. He was welcomed into the party by the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president, Chaudhary Prem Singh, at the local party office here. Mr. Sish Pal, facing a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation and cases by the Crime Branch of the Delhi police in the Tughlakabad land grab case, had contested against the official party candidate as an independent. He had managed to poll a huge chunk of nearly 23,000 votes that resulted in the defeat of the Congress candidate. Also, present on the occasion was the Okhla MLA, Pervez Hashmi and the Outer Delhi party candidate, Sajjan Kumar, who have been instrumental in getting Mr. Sish Pal back into the party. Mr. Singh said that with the entry of Mr. Sish Pal into the party, the Congress would benefit a lot in the Outer Delhi constituency, as he was a prominent Gujjar leader of the area. Interestingly, Mr. Singh had been instrumental in suspending Mr. Sish Pal from the party during the Assembly elections and now has again played a major role in his comeback. Later, talking to newsmen, Mr. Singh said the party had fielded strong candidates in all the seven Lok Sabha seats and this had made the BJP jittery.
