KOCHI, APRIL 22. A quo warranto was filed before the Kerala High Court today seeking to oust the Finance Minister, K. Sankaranarayan, from the Cabinet for making a speech in Thiruvananthapuram that amounted to violation of oath of office. In his petition, Yehiya of Kollam said that while inaugurating a function organised in connection with World Consumer Protection Day in the State capital on March 14, the Minister had said that he would not be able to remain as a Minister if he made any attempts to punish those who indulged in adulteration of food articles. According to the petitioner, the speech had proved that the Minister was incapable of taking action against those who indulged in adulteration of food articles. In fact, he had pleaded helplessness though he was bound to enforce the law.
