ALAPPUZHA, APRIL 22. A paddy farmer was found dead at Ayaparambu junction in Cheruthana panchayat in the district this morning. According to the Veeyapuram police, the deceased, identified as Purushothaman (55) from Ayaparambu, committed suicide by consuming poison. The relatives said he was in financial crisis following the crop loss he suffered by the intrusion of salt water into his paddy fields. He had taken loan from local moneylenders and he had been unable to repay it, they said. The relatives said they presumed that Mr Purushothaman committed suicide as he found no means to repay the loans.
