Woman's murder: probe continues

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, APRIL 22 . Over 100 persons were questioned today by the Fort police in connection with the murder of 81-year-old Gomathi Ammal, whose body was found in a plastic sack in front of the Central Theatre on Tuesday night.

According to the police, those questioned today included Gomati Ammal's relatives, neighbours and shopkeepers in the vicinity. The police had questioned over 50 persons on Wednesday in connection with the murder.

An official said a Biology expert would visit the house of Gomathi Ammal and the spot where the body was found on Friday.

Six arrested

The Fort police have arrested six youth in connection with an attack on Balachandran, a resident of Muttathara, on April 11.

According to the police, the arrested were Manoj (20), Suraj (23), Shibhu (18), Manu (19), Tinu (21) and Kishore (19).

They were produced before the court today and remanded for 14 days.

Youth dead

A 25-year-old youth died after consuming poison at his house in Melekuppom, Vithura, near Nedumangad, today.

The deceased was identified as Sudhir, a labourer.
