CHENNAI, APRIL 22. Bharatanatyam exponent Padma Subrahmanyam today inaugurated the cultural festival of the Saraswathi Educational Cultural and Charitable Trust at Kapaleeswarar temple, Mylapore. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Subrahmanyam said family members of the civil servant, C. K. Gariyali, who hailed from Kashmir, started the Trust. She appealed to the Trust to bring folk artistes from the northern tip of the country to Tamil Nadu and organise their programmes here. Various programmes have been chalked out for the three-day festival. On the inaugural day, T.M. Krishna performed a vocal concert. Sangeetha Sivakumar will render a music programme on the second day and the concluding day will see a Bharatanatyam performance by Bhargavi Gopalan. G. Ramakrishnan, Commissioner, Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments, participated.
