Huge haul of DVDs at Chennai airport

CHENNAI, APRIL 23. Officials of the Video Piracy Cell (VPC) of the Crime Branch-CID yesterday raided a gift shop at the Kamaraj domestic air terminal here and seized 380 pirated DVDs, 17 VCDs, and 17 audio CDs kept for sale. Their value is estimated at Rs. 4 lakhs.

The owner, S. Syed Faiz Ahamed, of Anna Salai, Saidapet, was arrested and remanded to judicial custody.

According to R. Thirugnanam, Superintendent of Police, Video Piracy Cell, CB-CID, Chennai, the action followed a complaint from a lawyer, Rajesh Ramanathan of the Motion Pictures Association, Bangalore.
