KARUR, APRIL 23 . A total of 20 auxiliary polling stations will be set up in the Karur constituency for the May 10 elections, according to the Collector, P. Annamalai. Mr. Annamalai said that while nine auxiliary polling stations each would be established in the Thottiam and Marungapuri Assembly segments, two would come up in the Kulithalai Assembly segment. Auxiliary polling stations were being set up when the total number of voters attached to a booth exceeded 1,500. He was briefing officials of various departments about the code of conduct and the regulations for the conduct of the elections at a meeting held at the Collectorate here on Thursday. Mr. Annamalai said the Election Commission announced that it was enough to mark once with the indelible ink on the left index finger of the voter. Earlier, the Commission had announced that there should be two markings. Mr. Annamalai also explained how to operate the Electronic Voting Machines that were to be used in all polling stations. He asked the officials to enforce the rules properly.
