CHENNAI, APRIL 23. The State Resource Centre for Adult and Continuing Education in Tamil Nadu should be more actively involved with the continuing education programme in districts, Jagan Mathews, Director-General, National Literacy Mission Authority, Government of India, said today. ``It is time that it moved from being a mere resource centre to an active partner that provided vocational training for youth and helped in income generation activities,'' he said at an event organised here by the State Resource Centre for Adult and Continuing Education and the Tamil Nadu Board for Continuing Education to observe World Book Day. Mr. Mathews released a series of books prepared by the State Resource Centre on self-help group (SHG) training and the success stories of a few SHGs. He also released a book on the biographies of past presidents and on research studies. A compact disc on activities of the State Resource Centre was also released.
