CSI suspends stir

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, APRIL 23. The South Kerala Diocese of the Church of South India (CSI) has suspended the indefinite agitation which it has been organising before the Secretariat for the last three months demanding the restoration of the reservation in Government service for Nadars belonging to the SIUC sections.

The functionaries of the diocese and the representatives of organisations associated with the stir said today that they were suspending it on the basis of the assurances given to them by the liaison committee of the UDF and in view of the impending Lok Sabha elections.

They warned of reviving the stir with renewed strength if the assurances were not implemented.
