THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, APRIL 23. Congress leaders who lost the rat race for party ticket for the Lok Sabha elections are banding themselves into a new faction. These Congress leaders, under the leadership of P.C. Chacko, met at Arippa, 75 km from Thiruvananthapuram, to thrash out their future course of action, which is primarily directed at the veteran Congress leader, K. Karunakaran, and the Electricity Minister, K. Muraleedharan. The other prominent members of the group are T. Saratchandra Prasad, Rajmohan Unnithan, both of whom are awaiting the withdrawal of the suspension orders against them, and Shanimol Usman. K.P. Unnikrishnan is also expected to join the faction, though he did not attend the meeting today. After the meeting, Mr. Chacko told presspersons that many leaders, including MLAs who had quit the Karunakaran faction, were expected to join the new faction, which he claimed as the `I' group.
