MYSORE, APRIL 23. The Superintendent of Police, Vipul Kumar, said today that arrangements had been made for the peaceful conduct of election in Mysore district on Monday. Addressing presspersons here, Mr. Vipul Kumar said of the 1,383 polling booths in the district, 307 had been identified as hypersensitive and 556 as sensitive. Appealing to the voters to cooperate with the police in conducting the election in a smooth manner, he said 74 mobile patrol teams would be deployed and each team would look after 20 booths. Besides, 31 strike force units, personnel of paramilitary forces, the Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP), and the District Armed Reserve (DAR) would be deployed, he added. Video cameras would be installed at check-posts to record the movement of vehicles, he said. Our Chamarajanagar correspondent writes: The Deputy Commissioner, Harsha Guptha, said today that arrangements had been made for the smooth conduct of election in Chamarajanagar district on Monday. In a press release issued here, he said the sale of liquor had been banned from Saturday to Monday midnight. He appealed to the voters to cooperate with the district administration with regard to the changes in the location of some booths.
