NALGONDA, APRIL 23. Two girls wfere drowned in the Nagarjunasagar left canal at Marrikunta village in Garidepally mandal on Friday. According to the police sources, Podilla Krishnaveni (14), Podilla Lingamma (20), Teppani Rama Devi (14) and Nani Srilaxmi (13) went to the canal near their village to wash clothes. Krishnaveni, who was washing clothes on the slippery edge of the canal, fell into the wates and Lingamma tried to rescue her. Both of them met with watery grave. In her attempt to save her sister, Lingamma dragged Rama Devi into the water, but a shepherded, Saidulu, managed to save the latter with a valiant effort. The villagers searched for the two bodies till night but in vain. In another accident, a 10-year-old boy, B.Srikanth, fell into an agricultural well at Chinna Laxmapuram in Turkapally mandal on Friday. The mishap occurred while he was watching frogs in the well, according to the information reaching here.
