Review of poll procedure

KOCHI, APRIL 23. The Election Commissioner, B.B. Tandon, will arrive here tomorrow to review the poll preparations in the State. According to sources, Mr. Tandon is expected to land at the Cochin International Airport, Nedumbassery, tomorrow afternoon. He will hold meetings with all top officials who are involved with the election. He will return in the evening.

Video festival in May

A video festival in memory of N. K. Shaji, film producer and director, will be held in May. Competitions for video films and feature and non-feature films and a two-day film workshop will also be organised in this connection. A cash prize of Rs. 10, 000 and Rs. 5,000 will be given to the best films in the feature and non-feature film categories respectively. Thinkers' evening The Bharateeya Vichara Kendram and Researchers' Forum is to organise a `thinkers' evening' on April 25 to discuss the population structure of India. The director of the Centre for Policy Studies, Chennai, J. K. Bajaj, will present the topic at the meeting to be held at the Aluva Housing Society hall at 5.30 p.m. Dr. M. V. Pylee will preside over the meeting. A collection of speeches by the Bharateeya Vichara Kendram director, P. Parameswaran, will also be released at the meeting.

Two found dead

The bodies of two unidentified persons were found in the city. One of them was found at the Maharaja's College ground while the other one was found in a compartment of the Ernakulam-Kollam passenger train. The deceased were around 65 years of age, the police said. The dead bodies were removed to the mortuary of the Ernakulam General hospital and the police have registered cases.

Journal released

The academic journal of the School of Communication and Management Studies--SCMS Journal of Indian Management--was released here today. The Malayala Manorama associate editor, Thomas Jacob, released the journal. The SCMS group of educational institutions chairman, G.P.C, Nayar presided.
