Call for changes in Plus Two education system

KOLLAM, APRIL 24. The Transport Minister, R. Balakrishna Pillai, has said the way the higher secondary education was implemented in the State schools will have an adverse effect in the future.

Inaugurating the valedictory function of the 43rd State conference of the Kerala Private Secondary School Headmasters Association (KPHSA), he said the Plus Two education at schools had led to confusion over the posts of headmaster and principal.

He said the shortcomings in the examination system was also having an adverse affect on the education system. While Government schools were being closed down on the ground that there was shortage of students, nothing concrete had been done to attract students.

The district panchayat president, Aisha Potti, presided over the function.

The KPSHA awards for headmasters were also announced. The award winners are K. Sukumaran Nair, St. Augustine's HS, Murukumpuzha, Thiruvananthapuram, K. Haridas, Adichanallur Panchayat HS, Kollam, V. Prasad, Maniyar HS, Pathanamthitta, K.B. Rajagopalan Nair, NSS HS, Nedumudi, Alapuzha, Joseph Kunjabraham, St. Mary's HS, Bharnanganam, Kottayam, P.T. Sebastian, Saint Thomas HS, Erattayar, Idukki, K.J. Paul, St. Thomas HSS, Malayattur, Eranakulam, M.K. Shamshuddin, AJ HSS, Thrissur, A. Ramachandran, RPM HS, Palakkad, V.N. Rajan, Narakavu HS, Malapuram, Thresiamma Thomas, St. Thomas HS, Wayanad, N. Ahmed, MSM HSS, Kozhikode, John Cheriyan, St. Cornelius HS, Kannur and K.
