Stress on scientific spiritual approach

NEW DELHI APRIL 24. The President, A.P.J.Abdul Kalam, has stressed the need for a scientific spiritual approach to build bridges between different religions. Dr. Kalam made this comment when the well-known Suryayog exponent, Swami Surya Jowel, called on him recently.

Dr. Kalam said spiritual salvation could be achieved through love and compassion. He felt that Suryayog could bring about peace, harmony and spiritual upliftment of the people. Swami Surya Jowel explained that Suryayog was an ancient scientific technique that helps the practitioner to rise to a spiritual level that is beyond self, thereby bringing about peace and harmony which are essential in any civilized society.

Blood donation camp organised


NEW DELHI APRIL 24 .The Sant Nirankari Mission's head, Baba Hardev Singhji Maharaj, today said rather than shedding the blood of the innocent, people should donate blood to those who badly need it. Inaugurating a blood donation camp here today, Baba Hardev Singhji Maharaj, appreciated the enthusiasm of the voluntary donors on "Manav Ekta Diwas''. He said that Nirankari concept of donating blood was an example for the world to follow.

On the occasion, the Sant Nirankari Mission remembered the supreme sacrifices of its former head, Baba Gurbachan Singhji, and his devotees who laid down their lives for the noble cause of peace, unity, truth and love.

As many as 56 blood donation camps were organised by the Sant Nirankari Mission across the country today.

Call to Malayalees

NEW DELHI APRIL 24. The former President, K. R. Narayanan, today exhorted Malayalees living abroad to contribute their intellectual and technical wisdom to enrich the development of the country in which they are living.

Inaugurating a seminar on ``Emigration and Employment problems of non-resident Keralites,'' organised by the World Malayalee Council here, Mr Narayanan, who himself had spent several years abroad as a foreign service official, praised the entrepreneurship of Malayaless.
