THENI, APRIL 25. The Collector, Atul Anand, on Saturday said candidates and party functionaries should not use mobile phones in polling stations. Transportation of voters to polling stations was completely banned. Addressing an all-party meeting here, he appealed to political parties to extend full cooperation with the district administration for conducting free and fair polls. Those who did not receive the voter identity card could produce one of the 14 documents authorised by the Election Commission for casting their votes. Campaigning was banned in polling station campus. Each candidate was permitted to use seven vehicles on the polling day. Prior permission to use vehicles should be obtained. Campaign should end at 5 p.m. on May 8. Polling would take place on May 10. The first round of submission of expenditure accounts should be made on April 30. The district election office released the final voter list on Saturday. The total voters in the Periakulam constituency are 10,56,853, including 5,14,655 men and 5,42,198 women. Of the total 4,723 postal votes, men are 3,539 and women 1,184. In the Periakulam Assembly segment, there are 1,94,168 voters, including 95,458 men and 98,710 women voters. In the Theni segment, the total voters are 1,94,233 of whom men are 94,710 and women 99,523. In Bodinaickanur, of the total of 1,67, 292 voters, male are 81,150 and female are 86,142 and in Cumbum, there are 1,65,725 voters of whom men are 79,609 and women are 86,116. In Andipatti, the total voters are 1,84,229, including 89,661 men and 94,568 women, and in Sedapatti, the total voters are 1,46 483, including 70,528 men and 75,955 women.
