Suspend policemen for foisting cases: Tirumavalavan
By Our Special Correspondent
CHENNAI,
APRIL 25.
The general secretary of the Dalit Panthers of India (DPI), Thol. Tirumavalavan, has urged the Chief Minister, Jayalalithaa, to suspend the police personnel who were behind `foisting' cases on party activist, K. Selvam alias Selvaperunthagai.
In a statement here, Mr. Tirumavalavan referred to the Madras High Court's order transferring the investigation of four ciminal cases against Mr. Selvaperunthagai to the Central Bureau of Investigation and initiating contempt proceedings against an inspector for filing an ``ante-dated charge sheet in violation of court orders.''
If these personnel were placed under suspension till the completion of the case, the Chief Minister could convey a message to the people that her Government respected the Dalits and protected their interests, said Mr. Tirumavalavan.
